Devi Tamil Movie Review

Devi - a new movie has released from PrabhuDeva Studios banner on Dussehra in Tamil,Hindi and Telugu, starring Prabhudeva,Tamannah in the lead directed by A.L.Vijay.
'Devi'-Prabhudeva is back as an actor after 12 long years, so it had created much hype among the cine fans. So what is there in the store?
It includes a good starcast including the King of dance Prabhudeva and Tamannah in the lead supported by RJ Balaji,Sonu Sood, Murali, Sathish,Nasser, etc.
Prabhudeva hailing from a village is forced to marry a village girl 'Tamannah' due to family's compulsion and takes her to Mumbai. What happens later is the rest of the story.
It is easily a guessable story, where a spirit gets into the body of villager Tamannah and she starts behaving modern and dances brilliantly like a proper trained heroine leading to shock and surprises of Prabhudeva.
We all know Prabhudeva is known for his good comic sense and his hit comedies. So it has worked out well. But not to deny there are lot of cliche scenes and shots.
And it clearly shows they have shot the entire movie in a set, so it reduces the liveliness of the atmosphere.
First 15-20 minutes of the movie was not impressive until Prabhudeva gets married to Tamannah and the couple move to Mumbai. From that, the pace of the movie picks up. And Vijay has matured as a director where he has not kept cliche shots like ghost in white dress or some birds nest or spider nest or some crazy things happening inside the building, etc.
Prabhudeva has got good chances to emote initially when he tries to avoid his wife and later when he wants his wife back from the spirit. And Tammanah has simply rocked showing her matured acting skills in both sides of the coin.
3 plus factors of the movie are Prabhudeva,Tammanah and RJ Balaji.
The fast fast dialogues and witty one liners RJ Balaji gives to Tammanah about Mumbai as 'this is the place where Raju bhai has lived' is brilliant. He has grown as an actor, expecially during the funeral scene of Prabhu's grandmother and at the place where Sonu Sood-the superstar comes outside their house. He has really grown up as an actor.
This can be said one of the best performances of Tamannah, she has two contrast roles one as a villager and another as a ghost. We really can't accept her as a villager hailing from Coimbatore interior.
And Prabhudeva is really back as a wonderful actor. He has expressed comedy, sentiments towards his wife and the best of all-his dance for 'Chalmar' song.
Overall its a one-time watchable family entertainer.
And the movie has emerged as a hit.It is good for the director A.L.Vijay who went down after the flops of Thalaiva and Saivam. Though he has not taken a very unique storyline, but he has excelled in the plot which he has chosen with decent starcasting and performances.
There is not much as negative except the sets they have used as a common property for Tamil,Teluguand hindi which is evident.
Anyhow the movie is a winner among the recent releases:)
Congrats and Well done A.L.Vijay and team.
