Devi Tamil Movie Review

Devi - a new movie has released from PrabhuDeva Studios banner on Dussehra in Tamil,Hindi and Telugu, starring Prabhudeva,Tamannah in the lead directed by A.L.Vijay.
'Devi'-Prabhudeva is back as an actor after 12 long years, so it had created much hype among the cine fans. So what is there in the store?
It includes a good starcast including the King of dance Prabhudeva and Tamannah in the lead supported by RJ Balaji,Sonu Sood, Murali, Sathish,Nasser, etc.
Prabhudeva hailing from a village is forced to marry a village girl 'Tamannah' due to family's compulsion and takes her to Mumbai. What happens later is the rest of the story.
It is easily a guessable story, where a spirit gets into the body of villager Tamannah and she starts behaving modern and dances brilliantly like a proper trained heroine leading to shock and surprises of Prabhudeva.
We all know Prabhudeva is known for his good comic sense and his hit comedies. So it has worked out well. But not to deny there are lot of cliche scenes and shots.
And it clearly shows they have shot the entire movie in a set, so it reduces the liveliness of the atmosphere.
First 15-20 minutes of the movie was not impressive until Prabhudeva gets married to Tamannah and the couple move to Mumbai. From that, the pace of the movie picks up. And Vijay has matured as a director where he has not kept cliche shots like ghost in white dress or some birds nest or spider nest or some crazy things happening inside the building, etc.
Prabhudeva has got good chances to emote initially when he tries to avoid his wife and later when he wants his wife back from the spirit. And Tammanah has simply rocked showing her matured acting skills in both sides of the coin.
3 plus factors of the movie are Prabhudeva,Tammanah and RJ Balaji.
The fast fast dialogues and witty one liners RJ Balaji gives to Tammanah about Mumbai as 'this is the place where Raju bhai has lived' is brilliant. He has grown as an actor, expecially during the funeral scene of Prabhu's grandmother and at the place where Sonu Sood-the superstar comes outside their house. He has really grown up as an actor.
This can be said one of the best performances of Tamannah, she has two contrast roles one as a villager and another as a ghost. We really can't accept her as a villager hailing from Coimbatore interior.
And Prabhudeva is really back as a wonderful actor. He has expressed comedy, sentiments towards his wife and the best of all-his dance for 'Chalmar' song.
Overall its a one-time watchable family entertainer.
And the movie has emerged as a hit.It is good for the director A.L.Vijay who went down after the flops of Thalaiva and Saivam. Though he has not taken a very unique storyline, but he has excelled in the plot which he has chosen with decent starcasting and performances.
There is not much as negative except the sets they have used as a common property for Tamil,Teluguand hindi which is evident.
Anyhow the movie is a winner among the recent releases:)
Congrats and Well done A.L.Vijay and team.

Rekka movie review

Rekka - the recent movie of Vijay Sethupathi released few weeks back has also become a success.
And infact there is a fact that if Lakshmi Menon acts in the movie, it is becoming a hit and has proved it once again.

The movie is directed by Rathina Siva, whose first movie 'Vaa Deal' is yet to release.
We should appreciate Vijay Sethupathi for offering and lifting a struggling director. Kudos!
The music is done by D.Imman.
The movie is all set in Kumbakonam and Madurai backgrounds.
Vijay sethupathi plays the role like the one of 'Madhavan' in run. It resembles very much from the scenes, fights, dressing sense and in fact the opening 'Virru Virru' song, which was not very pleasant to watch in the theatre and kind of irritating. They could have better avoided the song which these days fans are not preferring.
Other notable characters in the movie are director K.S.Ravikumar playing as the father of VS and comedian Sathish playing the friend role and actor Kishore playing a insane guy role.
The plot is all about the hero getting stuck between two villains-Harish Uthaman from Madurai and Kabir Singh at Coimbatore due to the marriage he performs by helping lovers, where in a case he gets involved in the marriage of Harish's fiancee which leads him to trouble in Vijay Sethupathis sister's marriage where he keeps a condition to kidnap minister's daughter Lakshmi Menon, who eventually just walks with VS when he calls due to some previous impressive incidents done by him. Yes these scenes were just like watching a Ramarajan movie released in 1990s.
And the director has given lot of fiery fight scenes to the hero.
The good thing in the movie is it has lot of sentiment scenes and strong flashback portion which is the only part of the movie which gets the audience get interest on the movie.
And as again the hero fighting against both the villains in the climax just reminds us of watching WWF shows eventually where the hero wins.
D.Imman's songs were ok ok type where it might be a hit in the rural areas but not elsewhere.
The tunes were reminding us of some old songs.
Still the movie has grossed good amount of money due to Dussehra release and has emerged as a hit.
Congratulations to the team!

Remo movie review

Remo - the much awaited and hyped movie has released last week worldwide and is even doing good collections at the box office.

So did it compensate the hype generated or it is just another movie is the question.
Definitely we know Sivakarthikeyan's movies are seen next to Vijay in attracting kids and families to the theatres as he has that magnetism to attract the audience with nice dance moves and his comedy timing which are his biggest strengths.
And even in this movie we can see he has focused on those areas taking an extra mile in playing a role with lady getup just as we saw Kamal do in the superhit movie 'Avvai Shanmugi'.
Siva has gone to next level trying his luck doing the make up and prosthetic next to Kamalhassan and Vikram in Kollywood wooing everybody's attention. Kuds to Team Weta who has done the make up of the nurse getup which is presented well in the movie else it would have been a disaster to watch Siva in lady getup in the whole movie.
And the ace cinematographer P.C.Sreeram joining the team has helped the project grow bigger getting the limelight among the releases. And kudos to R.D.Raja, the producer of the film for his magnanimous promotions everywhere in social media, TV, making Remo the word everywhere till the release.
And Sivakarthikeyan has really grown up seeing this movie has generated early morning fans shows.
Lets come to the movie review. Yes!
The movie plot is easily guessable just seeing the trailer.
Siva goes in a lady get up to woo the likes of female lead, Keerthy Suresh who works as a doctor.
Siva, an aspiring actor in the movie had to put a nurse getup to get a chance in the movie directed by K.S.Ravikumar. He fails to prove himself and goes sadly in the bus where keerthy meets him and offers him a job at her hospital where all the further drama happens.
Siva happily goes to the job thinking he can make Keerthy fall in love and tries to impresses her inspite of knowing that she is already engaged and ready to get married to another doctor next month.
Still Siva goes behind her in the lady getup in the day time working in hospital and comes back to his normal getup rest of the time.
All the scenes are pretty guessable and even the dialogues are nothing new and no surprises still makes you watch the movie just due to the combo-Sivakarthikeyan and Keerthy Suresh.
Other notable characters in the movie are Saranya, K.S.Ravikumar,Sathish,Mottai Rajendran,Narain,Yogi Babu etc.
And the movie goes with the same expectation and ends same way Siva winning Keerthy.
The main plus of the movie is P.C.Sriram's cinematography and Anirudh's music, though the songs are not that catchy like his earlier ones.
The minus point of the movie is the director Bakkiyaraj Kannan using all cliched scenes and dialogues which we have seen in lots of movies in the 90s,mainly reminding Minnale,Avvai Shanmugi,Thillu Mullu. Still he has done justice to the producer by able to make good money out of the movie by satisfying the majority of the audience expecially kids and ladies.
Anyhow the movie is a hit and doing well at the Box office.
Our wishes to the team for the success of the movie!

Aandavan Kattalai movie review

Aandavan Kattalai - director Manikandan's 3rd movie starring the most wanted Vijay Sethupathi,Rithika Singh in the leads supported by Pooja Devariya,Nassar,Yogi Babu, etc. produced by AnbuCheliyan and music by K.

This movie is an out and out commercial entertainer after Manikandan's Kaaka Muttai and Kuttrame Thandanai.
The plot revolves around Gandhi(Vijay Sethupathi) and Pandi(Yogi Babu) who leaves their village due to their debts to Chennai planning to move to London for job to settle their debts.
And Yogi Babu gets the visa and sethupathi doesn't. What happens is the rest of the story.
In the process of applying visa, VS adds a name 'KarmegaKuzhali' as his wife in his passport which adds up the problems for him.
Then for timebeing VS starts to work in Nasser's drama company earning the good will of him.
And he gets an opportunity to fly to London through that company. So VS had to remove his wife's name from passport for which he needs the ID proof of the girl to be submitted for divorce.
All these drama happens which is nicely portrayed as a comedy entertainer is the rest of the movie.
Kudos to the team for taking such a lively story and giving entertaining performances.
Movie is already a hit and can be enjoyed watching in a theatre with family.

Kuttrame Thandanai movie review

Hello all,
Glad to be back with a movie review.

I recently watched 'Kuttrame Thandanai' movie starring Vidharth,Aishwarya Rajesh, Pooja Devariah,Nasser,Rahman,Guru Somasundaram, Yogi Babu etc.
This is the 2nd movie directed by 'Kaaka Muttai' fame Mr.Manikandan.
This movie is almost 1.5 hours running and doesn't have any songs.
The background music was given by none other than Isaignani Ilayaraja who has made this movie a musical one. This is a crime psychological thriller movie.
The movie is all about a murder of a young woman and the suspects where the lead Vidharth is having a tunnel vision problem slowly losing his vision. Appreciate his efforts for the role where maximum shots are close-ups of him and he has done lot of homework we should agree.
Though the content of the movie is almost like that of a short film, it is nicely presented by the director who himself has handled the cinematography as well.
We should appreciate the director of handling a content totally opposite to his debut one 'Kaaka Muttai'.
The storyline revolves around the man who tries to make use of trump card he got to make use to repair his vision and what happens in the climax is the twist with total surprise.
Everyone has given a 'realistic' acting from Vidharth,Pooja,Aishwarya, Rahman and Nasser, which is hard to see in recent movies.
The cinematography is of top notch especially the symbolical representation of Vidharth losing his sight. The director has wisely kept only limited locations for the movie which is suffice.
Though it is a thriller movie, the tension of 'whats next' is missing.
The movie has already got selected in many film festivals.
Overall,It is an one time watchable movie.
