Yennai Arindhal - the most awaited movie of this year, has finally released on 5th Feb 2015 with a grand opening similar to that of Ajith's films and infact its getting better by each film.
This film has a massive expectation due to many reasons:
1.It is the first time Ajith Kumar has joined with Gautham Menon.
2.Gautham Menon is back with Harris Jayaraj's music after a break of 7 years since Varanam Ayiram movie
3.It is the next film from Ajith after two back to back hits Arambam and Veeram.
4.The big star cast including Trisha,Anushka Shetty,Arun Vijay and Vivek.
You can see the below pictures for the kind of opening this movie has received fro Tamilnadu.
Also it is the first time Ajith's movie has released in 500screens in Tamilnadu state and around 1000screens in the world.
So lets come to the review side of the movie.
Yennai Arindhal falls in the 'cop' movie category of movies directed by GVM i.e. Kaaka Kaaka and Vettaiyadu Vilayadu.
Gautham's movies are always backed by strong Background music which is there in this one too. Harris has done a tremendous job.
Coming to the most important part- Ajith.
Ajith's introduction comes in a flight where he is seated next to Anushka and she falls in love to Ajith on the very first sight.
They both return to Chennai from an abroad trip. Accidentally she meets Ajith in a coffee shop where Arun Vijay, the antagonist comes with a gang to kill Anushka and fails in this incident.
Why did Arun come there to kill Anushka? This is the fast racy answer given by GVM in the form of Yennai Arindhal.
Ajith comes as a cop and he has a small flashback why did he chose to become a cop.
His father played by Nasser gets killed by a gangster Daniel Balaji and due to this Ajith thinks either he has to become a cop or a gangster.
So when the movie unfolds, Ajith is shown as a part of the Arun Vijay's gang and in few scenes itself GVM unveils that Ajith has joined the gang to kill the leader of the gang Mathew which is played by Stunt Silva.
Ajith meets Trisha who is a divorcee and has a kid and falls on love with her.
A guy falling in love with an unmarried girl is something usual, but that is what is different in a GVM film. He shows the protagonist falling in love with a girl seperated from her husband who also has a daughter. What a touch! Respect to GVM!
These scenes are shot in typical Gautham style with romantic dialogues and good to see Ajith in a romantic side after years.
Ajith and Trisha decide to get married but there comes a shock news that Trisha is killed on the day of their marriage.
Later Ajith takes care of Trisha's daughter and he showers love more than a father will do.
He even steps out of Police shoes and takes her for long trips on the Northern side of India and after 4 long years comes back to Chennai to lead the life.
There he gets a chance to get back into Police shoes when his friend's daughter is kidnapped. Ajith helps to save the kid and meanwhile he finds that Arun Vijay is responsible for this.
After this, its a full action packed racy screenplay with punch dialogues and diery scenes how Ajith wins Arun Vijay.
The split screen scene where Ajith and Arun talks for ten minutes is definitely one of the best scenes of the movie with both doing a brilliant performance.
Arun Vijay- gets a lifetime break character in this movie. He has lot of action packed scenes and he has done a terrific performance and will be a gamechanger in his career.
Coming to the music of the fil,the first intro song 'Adharu Udharu' is definitely on top of the charts and later Harris gives a beautiful melody'Unakenna Venum sollu'.
This movie is produced by A.M.Rathnam, his second movie with Ajith after Arrambam.
There are some resembling scenes of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu and Kaaka Kaaka, for which Gautham says its a Trilogy of the characterisation- something new to Tamil Cinema.
Definitely you can watch this movie for this massive combo and just for the one man Ajith who steals the show inspite of so many characters.
He has a charisma similar to the Sharukh khan in Bollywood or even similar to that of hollywood heroes.
He just carries the movie throughout in his shoulders and definitely this movie is going to break many records and be one of the biggest hits of tamil cinema.
Trisha has a small role but she has done it beautifully on the name Hemanika which is similar or better than her career best role as 'Jessi' in Vinnaithandi Varuvaya.
Anushka also has a role in this movie she has lot of scenes sharing the screen with Ajith and she has done a good job.
Actor Suman comes in a smaller role which has an impact for the film.
The movie is shot by a cameraman called Dan MCArthur who is a foreigner, he should be given a special mention since his photography was on top notch.
And it is a perfect comeback for Gautham Menon after Neethane en ponvasantham movie.
Kudos to the winning team.
